The story begins with the normal and typical day in Beldum Institute, or Academy as they formerly call it. Yes, tons of innocent yet mischievous students crowded in the halls and teachers gathered around the conference room.
It is a new day, isn't it? Normal as they say. But not when it comes to a pair of normal siblings who are just transferees of the school this year.
A girl stood in front of the school grounds with her hands on her hips. It's probably a first-grader showing off in the student body.
The sound of the whistle blowing filled the air and all students turned their heads at her.
"Heads up, troops!" her feet stood on the bench to catch all the attention.
"Once again, Yamamoto Naomi-chan is here! Your peppy student will always start up your morning with energizers!" She started marching in place while the audience just stood there and stared. Naomi sung an aerobic song while getting herself hydrated with all the moves.
She blew her whistle again and punched the air. "Now for the next routine!" She did the corny-looking jumping jacks exercise that got the audience giving her those weird looks.
"Keep it up, folks!" Naomi said, doing another routine of bending. "A good ol' exercise is always required in the morning!" she grinned when her foot suddenly tripped, causing her to fall sideways and get saved by a guy who caught her before she could fall headfirst.
The students suddenly awed when the guy put her down. Naomi blinked in surprise and sees him. The guy had bright orange hair and a pair of strong emerald-green eyes forming a scowl. The girl beside him had a long dark hair and a pair of glasses covering her sapphire-blue orbs.
"A-ah?" Naomi stammered and landed on her feet. The two people standing before her gave in scowling expressions.
"Are those what I think they are?!" said one boy from the crowd. The student body broke into murmurs.
"Y-you are..." Naomi stammered again and pointing at them. The guy sighed and looked towards his sister.
"Guess it's the same as one of these days,"
The girl just nodded. She turned to face Naomi. "You have enough exercises this morning. Take a break,"
"You should be careful next time, kiddo," the guy advised. "You could've hurt yourself,"
Naomi's cheeks turned red in embarrassment. "Sorry, se...senpai. I promise I'll be careful~"
The two people turned to leave. The silence is then replaced with awestruck awes, including Naomi. She faced the rest of the students and placed her hands on her hips.
"See them? They did it once again!" she grinned. "None other than the Haruhi stars!"
The students cooperated and raised their arms for praise.
"The guy over there is Haruhi Ryuu-kun-senpai. He's always a very cool and athletic guy. He's famous for his favorite sports baseball and soccer!" Naomi declaimed. "Not to mention he is known to be a mysterious guy who sometimes gives you the scary glares..."
The guy, Ryuu, scowled and grumbled. Naomi felt his "dark aura" engulfing and twitched.
"E-eh, I mean, scary monster faces!" She grinned sheepishly. "While the super cute girl over there is Haruhi Aika-chan-senpai! Aika-senpai also loves playing sports - I mean - sports like reading books and arts!"
"Were those even sports?" the girl, Aika, felt extremely embarrassed from Naomi's introduction.
"Aika-chan-senpai's super pretty and awesome like Ryuu-senpai. I gotta admit. Both of them are sure ideals as a boyfriend and a girlfriend material. Hihihihihi!"
Two hands grabbed her both arms. Ryuu and Aika dragged her away.
"That's enough," Ryuu hissed. "You're embarrassing us!"
"You need therapy, Naomi," Aika added.
"Senpaaaiii..." Naomi wailed. "I'm not finished with my last words! Ryuu-senpai and Aika-senpai always liked taiyaki and eating tons of pudding they didn't save some for ME!"
What came up next is a bratty Naomi strangled in a rope with a duct tape on her mouth.
The two siblings walked out grumbling and humiliated. Still, the awestruck atmosphere filled the air and the praise grew stronger. The only requirement missing is a Haruhi fan club.
"HARUHI-SENPAI'S RULE!!!"
The two siblings sighed in frustration. Those signs of flattery, in other words as false praising, occur almost everyday. They're used to it except when Naomi advertises stuff about their life. In other words, she can't keep her mouth shut.
The bell rang for the first class. Aika is a student from the Moon class with students she never knew. From the previous two months of school, she accepted almost everything for granted.
As for Ryuu, tons of kids look toward him and suddenly do those annoying awe-ful and dreamy sighs. Yeah, it's really annoying alright. It would become worse if he got himself those stalkers. They would say stuff like:
"Did you know Ryuu-senpai beat the school's greatest breakdancer??"
"Yeah, Aika-senpai always goes to the Valentine's Day drawing contest. Believe it or not, she presented a life-like artwork!"
"Hey, both of them are dangerous!"
"THEY'RE THE BOMB!"
Now that's what you call TRULY annoying.
The moment Gym class started, Ryuu got himself dressed into his usual gym outfit. Yeah, he looked cool. But not really, he says.
He is known to be athletic and a skilled hiphop dancer. Many say he's too young to earn those skills. Even he thought of it. He'd never done them before. Like yesterday, he kicked a soccer ball so hard it was sent flying in the distance. And he knew he never kicked a ball that hard.
It could be that something or someone is controlling him...
The coach whistled for attention. Ryuu stayed at the sidelines with a guy named Ash. The two met during a soccer practice. They're given the positions as strikers, forward as they call it today.
"Yoh~" Ash called out. "What took you so long?"
"Naomi trouble," the redhead replied. "She needs mouth stitching,"
"Oh, that peppy first-grader?"
"You don't have to remind me,"
The coach whistled again. The two guys ran to the field when the coach threw a dodgeball in the air and caught it on his hand.
"Listen up," he growled. "We'll be not playing the simple and hysterical game of dodgeball like what you kids do all the time,"
"Ooh, maybe it's a unique one," said a boy.
"Of course it is," the coach suddenly stared at his direction. "It's two times different!" The boy flinched. "It's a type of dodgeball that involves a little game of punching. It's either you'll hit 'em or miss!" He did another pacing and faced the class. "Now who wants to go first?"
He held the dodgeball in the air so everybody can see it. But the only feedback is complete silence.
"No one, eh? Let's see who dares catch this thing and he'll be forced to perform the routine. Let the fun begin!"
"Jeez..." Ash grimaced. "Since when did we have a coach who screams like a stranded cow?"
"You make it an amplifier cranked to the maximum volume," Ryuu commented.
"Raise your hand or let the ball decide!" the coach warned. Giving up, he threw the ball at a high arc. The class hesitated. The sight of the red ball sent a sense of something sudden. Ryuu's emerald gaze went towards it when he blinked.
"Ei," Ash tapped him on the shoulder. "What's wrong, buddy?"
Ryuu clutched his head and grimaced. He muttered something in an ancient language that Ash surprisingly understood. He suddenly nudged his friend. "Hey, Ryuu-tan. Snap out of it!" He nudged him once again. Ryuu stood up, feeling intense heat rushing through him. He blinked, making Ash gasp.
His eyes were red. Bloody-red. Deadly and life-threatening.
"Ryuu!" Ash yelled. The redhead abruptly swooped towards the ball. He hit it hard with his fist. The class broke into gasps when the ball flew like a meteorite dashing downwards. Flares literally engulfed around the ball when it hit the ground with a loud crash. Cracks appeared on the field, surprising the coach and everyone as well.
Ryuu stood in the arena, his eyes still scarlet. His knees weakened and clutched his head again. Ash rushed at him. "Ryuu-tan," he shook him hard. The male redhead groaned when he opened his eyes. They were back to normal.
"What happened?"
"Not cool," Ash shook his head. "You hit that ball with that iron fist of yours!"
"Iron fist..?" he blinked, clueless. "What are you talking about?"
"You need to go to the infirmary," Ash suggested. "And your hand is bleeding." Ryuu stared at his hand. His knuckles have turned red, swollen. The dodgeball was rough like sandpaper that it gave him clean scratch marks and tiny droplets of scarlet.
"No, it doesn't hurt, really," he simply took out a cloth and wrapped it around his hand.
"Ryuu-sama..."
A boy with blonde hair with bangs almost covering his face but a tiny ponytail on his head proved he's a guy. His pale blue eyes looked down at them while his expression is filled with fear.
"It... it can't be..." he quivered.
Ash stood up and placed his hand on the boy's shoulder. "Len, you saw what he just did?"
He just nodded. "I did..."
"What Ryuu-tan did was..." Ash glanced back at Ryuu. But Len cut him off before he would continue.
"I'll tell you later. Not the right time, okay?"
The other "senpai" excused herself in the library to do an advanced research alone. Yeah, that alone thing never always lasts longer. First, you're all alone then boom! You see people and strangers!
Haruhi Aika-senpai hated that. She always hated interference.
Now we see her in the library holding three books on her arms. They were heavy, hardbound and thick.
"Ohhayo," she greeted the librarian from the counter.
The books she carried were really heavy. Although she used 4 hrs. yesterday reviewing and researching before using her laptop. She put down her books on a table, panting in exhaustion. She leaned her back on a shelf and sighed.
"Onii-chan never told me he used of the books as reference," she says. "But at least he already got his homework done in a jiff,"
She sat on the table and opened one book. She placed a hand on her chin while the other hand flipping on the pages.
"Aika-chan!" said a voice behind. She looked as a girl with teal-colored hair and auburn eyes surprised her. She has a pair of small pigtails she always do everyday.
"What are ya doing at this time already?" she asked.
"Umm.... reading?"
"Well, I'm assigned to do a book report this afternoon," the girl, Mirouni, said. "Dunno why...and ooh! I found this stuffed in my bag this morning. Never seen it before. But hey, it's cool alright. It even has a fabulous glittery ink!" She says, pulling out a pen from her pocket and showing it to Aika.
"But that costs cheap!" she commented.
"No," Mirouni shook her head. "I don't even know where it came from,"
Aika gave in a weird look of confusion.
"Yep, seriously," She clicked the pen like how mechanical pens usually are. Nothing. It was just a pen!
"Oh, that's... great!" Aika gave in a nod and smiled.
"What's this thing, anyway?" her friend asked. "It strangely has these tiny buttons as if it's a remote control without a joystick,"
"Ooh, maybe it came from outer space,"
The librarian let out a faint shush. Both girls whispered, "Sorry..."
"Guess I'll see you later then," Mirouni turned to leave. "Sayonara!" She went through the door as it closed behind her. Once again, Aika is alone again.
She grabbed more books from the shelves. Soon the table is loaded with stacks of books. A notebook and a pen are prepared. She jotted down notes and made short outlines of every topic. She consumed five pages already and yet she got ten topics at once!
"She's a nerd,"
"She's a nerd and a smart one!"
"I bet she'll beat the world's smartest person, or even get smarter than a computer!"
The last quote annoyed her. Heck, nobody has tried outsmarting a computer you know! Jeez, those kids should get a life.
"If only I change a bit," Aika says to herself. "Maybe that will make them stop and look for someone to admire. Which is why I wanted to do something extraordinary. Something unseen by a naked eye or even glasses. Something protected from the eyes of mortals.
Getting lazy from her work, she tore a piece of paper from her notebook and decided to do something like doodling. The first one she drew is some kind of a symbol. Since she only had a black pen, she have no idea what color she's gonna use for it.
She slide the scrap paper aside and found another symbol. It is the shape of a sparkling snowflake compared to the one with a water droplet symbol. At first, she has a hand with a mind of its own. But when she peered closer to the picture, she felt aura.
Sudden sparks of aura. The flow of the water. The cold brush of an icy wind.
"Oh well," she shrugged. "Guess I'll just keep these in my locker," She inserted the two pictures inside the notebook and returned the books back to their shelves (and took her a long time). She finally went through the door and out of the library.
The hall is empty and she's the only one walking through the aisle.
She found her locker at the east side and simply opened its door. Stacks of textbooks and fillers loaded her locker. She pulled out notebooks and two books, holding them securely.
"Ah, shimata!" she yelled. "I'm late for my next class!" She ran ahead to the Moon class hurriedly when she ran smack into someone.
Aika fell on her buttocks and dropped her books and fillers. The two scraps of her drawing flew towards the almost slippery floor.
"I'm sorry," she squeaked, snatching them back her things and her pen. It was a girl with pale pink hair and dandelion eyes. She glanced at the two drawings and peered close. She suddenly took them and examined them both.
Aika dusted her skirt when she caught the girl looking at her two drawings. The expression of the girl transformed into shock.
"What?" she questioned. The girl stood up and stared at the symbols then to her.
"Y...you did these?"
"Uhmm... yes..?"
"You are..." the girl stammered. But the hall monitor caught them and yelled to get back to class. She ran off with Aika's drawings.
The bell rang for recess. The Haruhi siblings met on the cafeteria, both looking pale and not in their usual moods. Good thing nobody noticed their condition otherwise the school will be loaded with made-up Haruhi trivias.
Ash and Mirouni, also siblings, caught up with them. Yes, those two are their best friends along with the other people to form a circle of friends. Especially Len and the girl Aika ran smack into were stalking them behind.
"Hey, y'all~" Mirouni chimed, sitiing on the table they occupied. Ryuu and Aika both had their arms resting on the table and placing their heads over them.
"I'm feeling sick," Aika groaned.
Ryuu suddenly felt strange sweat coming from his skin and his eyes faintly glowing between green and red. The boy with blonde hair, Len, gulped. Seeing Ryuu's sudden act last Gym class scared him, especially when his eyes turned red right in front of Ash.
The girl beside him handed the two scraps of Aika's drawing symbols. Len stared at them and swallowed.
"I knew it," he said. "Guess we were right after all,"
Suspense filled their own atmosphere.

Prologue
When two worlds collide, you may think life is easier. No, it is not.
It's either it will create peace or chaos.
In this world of fantasy and real world, people have similarities.
All have aspirations. All have dreams. All have individual lives.
But there are differences, too.
They have supernatural abilities while humans don't.
They possess things unseen from the real world.
A fictional world exists besides the human world. According to the ancestors, it became the Earth's source of life and energy. Nobody knows who created nor founded it. It is actually a deserted oasis destroyed by brutes and ransacked by villains but is revived by deities, gods and goddesses, and proclaimed it a new world for supernaturals and elementals.
Then there happened to be a powerful heir. It is a mythical creature who searches for a mortal host. He has his fellow comrades with him who are also doing the same quest.
The Great One is a dragon. Most powerful and the deadliest creature in the universe. His strange element is feared by many and perhaps he can put any type and kind of dark creature - related to darkness - under his control.
But for the rest of his comrades, they needed mortal hosts, too.
Monsters and demons have entered the human world.
Mortals. Mere mortals. They needed them. As for the Great Dragon, he needed one so badly.
It will take him... years...
